OrganOx Kidney Preservation
The Challenge
The client was upgrading their existing Metra organ preservation system, and needed a Windows front-end for the human machine interface and a certifiable safety critical back-end capable of keeping a kidney alive, even if Windows crashes. All this needed to be developed on off the shelf hardware.
The Solution
A VxWorks 7 Hypervisor was selected and installed onto VT-d capable Intel Hardware. The Hypervisor was configured for efficient memory usage and resource allocation between the Windows 10 Embedded OS and the VxWorks OS. A number of configuration issues were solved to enable the client to deploy this solution on their next generation organ preservation system.
