Systems Integration
When designing a complete system, it is important that every aspect of the software and hardware components are properly integrated and tested, and that the necessary software tools are in place to ensure all aspects of the system function as they should.
For example, a modern automotive control system may have a mix of many I2C and SPI devices, as well as Ethernet, RS232, CANBus, ultrasonic sensors and multiple cameras. Each of these devices has to be first tested in isolation, and then integrated along with the necessary drivers, into the operating system and then soak tested under high load to ensure that the system meets requirements.
